  SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

WRITERS GUIDELINES

Please be advised that we are now OPEN to submissions.

We are looking for original, horror, dark mystery and suspense short stories up to 6000 words. Please query for longer material. We want tales that are powerful and emotional, but that are also creepy, chilling and disturbing. Dark suspense, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery and crime fiction are also welcome as are supernatural and psychological tales.

Particular attention will be given to submissions where character building and evocative language is used to create the story. In other words, we are not just after blood and gore if there is no plot behind your work.

It should be noted that whilst all subjects will be considered, submissions which promote prejudice for any reason, or which include violence/abuse towards children will not be considered.

Submissions from those in the Midlands area of the UK are particularly welcome.

SUBMISSION FORMAT: Send us manuscript and SASE. Hard copy manuscripts should be typed on one side of A4, in standard font 12 point size. Simultaneous submissions are okay, if noted in cover letter. Authors outside the United Kingdom should send disposable manuscripts with a business sized SAE and proper UK postage. If your hard copy is accepted you will be asked to send your story via E-mail, or through the post on disk.

Electronic submissions can be emailed as long as they are sent as an attached file (rtf) to Horror Express

Please put the word SUBMISSION in the title. Authors details, and email address must be included in the submission as well as a short bio. Alternatively, you can post submissions to: The Horror Express SUBMISSIONS PO BOX 11600 Birmingham B30 2WQ West Midlands England.
